A challenge café that supports foreign residents working hard to build their future, where you can enjoy dishes from many countries.
Manmaru Cafe was opened in August 2024 as a place where people with roots in foreign countries can take on challenges toward their dreams.
Manmaru Akashi, which is the organization behind Manmaru Cafe, has been providing support for foreign residents and their families for many years.
From now on, we will also focus on activities that help support their future.
We would like to encourage people who have studied cooking, and those who wish to work by making use of their special skills — anyone who has the feeling of ‘I want to try!’
Manmaru Cafe is a place where everyone can play an active role.
The Japanese level of our staff varies, but all of them are hardworking and positive.
Please support Manmaru Cafe, where the spirit of trying one’s best is always present.
Dishes from many countries served at Manmaru Cafe
LUNCH TIME
The food served is prepared by cooks came from overseas countries and you can enjoy ethnic special-of-the-day lunch.
The concept of Manmaru Cafe is not to serve “fancy restaurant dishes,” but to let people enjoy “home‑style cooking from many countries in a casual way”.
We offer authentic home-style dishes from Taiwan, the Philippines, India, Mexico, the U.S., and other countries, changing daily.
Our business hours are 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. from Tuesday to Friday, and 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. on Saturdays and the third Sunday.
Please enjoy our meals as if you were traveling around the world’s dining tables.
BAL TIME
On weekends, the café turns into a bar where you can enjoy beers from around the world.
From 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, we have Bar Time, during which you can enjoy beers from many countries.
We offer bottled and draft beers from abroad so you can casually taste the real flavors.
The director and her spouse will welcome you with dishes and small bites that go well with beer.
Please enjoy a relaxing weekend evening at Manmaru Café with a glass of beer in hand.

Operation
The NPO Multicultural Center Manmaru Akashi is based in Akashi and works to support foreign residents and children with foreign roots living in Akashi City and nearby areas, as well as to promote international exchange in the community.
In addition to providing support for foreign residents and families with foreign backgrounds, we aim for a future where differences in nationality and culture do not become barriers. We carry out activities that help people with diverse cultures and customs deepen mutual understanding, and projects that create opportunities for everyone, regardless of nationality, to play an active role.

As you may already know, the number of people and families who come from overseas or have foreign roots is increasing throughout Japan, and Akashi City is no exception.
Not only the number but also the variety of nationalities is growing. NPO Multicultural Center Manmaru Akashi, the organization behind Manmaru Café, has been expanding its activities in response to the increasing number of people seeking support.
The support needed by adults and children with foreign backgrounds is wide-ranging.
Some examples are “Japanese language learning,” “support for daily life,” and “care for feelings of loneliness.”
When their stay in Japan becomes longer, they also need to think about their future.
This is the same for both adults and children.
Until now, NPO Multicultural Center Manmaru Akashi has mainly focused on helping with “what is difficult right now,” but we strongly feel that support for their “future” is becoming more important.
There are many foreign residents who learned cooking in their home country and wish to open a restaurant, who hope to have their own shop, or who want to work by making use of their skills and hobbies. Many of them have dreams they want to achieve.
However, in Japan, various visible and invisible barriers often stand in their way, and some people are close to giving up. This is truly unfortunate.
Therefore, NPO Multicultural Center Manmaru Akashi created Manmaru Café as a place where anyone can take on challenges and where everyone can make use of their abilities.
While continuing our support for those who are facing difficulties now, we will also put more effort into activities that support their future.
